Sitting - the great leveler

We spent a night in Chicago and drank a bunch of Jamieson’s and American beer. It was also Aaron’s (TCD) birthday, so we celebrated gratuitously. We hung out in South Side Chicago, which is full of rich and interesting characters, liquor sold in black bags, and a pretty significant police presence, which oddly didn’t make me feel safe at all. I slept in the van as it absolutely poured. In the morning we went to breakfast with Julian’s friend at a place called The Flying Saucer, which was ridiculously good.

Things got a little drunk in Chicago.

Post Breakfast photo documentation!

We headed to East Moline and TCD did a little recording. It’s a quiet place.

Driving back from East Moline at about 1 am, headed to Windsor, we were taking directions from V and Scott needed to relieve himself. As we pulled into a gas station it dawned on us that it was closed, Scott tried to go around the corner. Just then a police car boxed us in and interrogated Scott, asking which state British Columbia was and what we thought we were doing. After checking Scott’s driver’s license they informed us that there had been recent burglaries in the area. He directed us to a metro stop for the facilitation of relieving oneself.

We continued to Gary, Indiana (our stop for the night). To get a location into our GPS you have to pick a street name and we randomly selected one. As we got closer (about 3 am) another cop pulled us over and he expressed his concern over “four white guys from Canada in a van full of electronics in the murder capital of the world” (a quick google search reveals that Caracas is actually the murder capital of the world). We took his advice anyways and contacted the gents in TCD, found their hotel and were greeted at “The Dollar Inn” by two cop cars with lights ablaze and a K9 unit directly in front of our room number.

Julian and I slept in the van.

I am now sitting in the Phog Lounge in Windsor, Ontario. Back in delicious Canada. We're going to play in about 30 minutes!
