Paul Goes To Town

Ground control to Major Adam.

We played The Boat in Toronto two nights ago with TCD and 2 local bands (The Love Terror Cult and Dance Electric). Both of them were screamer bands and had huge amp stacks and I can't find my socks. The venue was amazing inside (think BioShock decor) and the staff was incredibly nice to us. We have been drinking Steam Whistle since we've been east of B.C. and it continues to go down smooth and refreshingly. After the show we headed to a house party nearby and got rad with a bunch of Torontonians. Sing-alongs, guitar playing, piano smashing, motor boating and general hilarity continued into the small hours. On our way home we stopped at a donut store open at 4 am and ate sausage rolls and Jamaican patties. Bad choice in all honesty.

Monday was our first day-off so far and it also happened to be Paul's birthday. We met up with our pal Simon and the Castle Grey Skull boys at Hooters (yes) as they had $2 beers and all you can eat wings (and a waitress with an understandably sour attitude). I eventually got a smile out of her, but it required all of my craftiness. We only had 15 minutes to drink as many $2 beers as possible (Budweiser, and then Budweiser Light as they "ran out"). After satiating our thirst and hunger we walked to the Skydome (aka Rogers Centre) and got some $11 nose bleed tickets to a Blue Jays game. This was my first baseball game and it was as long winded as I imagined it would be. It was fun heckling the professionals and integrating ourselves into the local population. The Blue Jays lost 3-8 and we boo'd them with impunity. We sauntered through the streets until getting to the Horseshoe Bar where we saddled up to the bar and took residence until the doors were closing, celebrating Paul's birth. The TCD boys showed up and we had three western Canada bands drinking and getting rowdy in downtown Toronto together. Very fun. On the walk home I got a lamb kabab from a van with neon lights and we stayed at an apartment in the downtown core with the Castle Grey Skull chaps.

We're now in Oshawa (at the public library) and are sorting ourselves out in advance of the show this evening. Playing a bar called the Atria, and tomorrow is Ottawa (the Cajun Attic - I hope they have jerk chicken).

- Calum
Scott and his Aunt Stephanie - so nice to us. Unending thanks for the warmth and hospitality!

Urbanity.

Nic L'rage (name change!) looking good parked outside of The Boat

The Love Terror Cult - she was tiny and unassuming, but screamed like she wanted to disembowel something.

We don't need the subway.

Paul's birthday funtimes at the Horseshoe

Urban Soccer - great game until you nail a cab

*cough* showoffs *cough*

goodnight Toronto
